| Description: | A NetBIOS Name is a unique identifier of a network node in a Windows network. As Windows networking supports different topologies and protocol stacks, the NetBIOS name is independent of the underlying layers. A NetBIOS name is at the most 15 characters long. When NetBIOS is used over TCP/IP, NetBIOS names must be resolved into IP addresses (see WINS). |
