ACL

Go to Glossary List

Description: Access Control List. Used for security inside of programs and operating systems. For example, Windows NT uses ACLs for directory and file access. Also, Lotus Domino uses ACLs for database access. Used in other software packages as well. An ACL contains both users and groups and what level of access each has. For example, you may be able to give a user "Reader" access, allowing them to read a document, while a different user you could give manager or full access.
