Description: Multi-purpose Internet Mail Extensions. Initially, MIME defined the standard to attach non-text information to Internet e-mail messages. Binary information is encoded into text. Additional data is transmitted so that the receiver can decode (and view) the information with the appropriate tools. MIME is also used to encode information sent by the Web servers.
