Go to Glossary List

Description: Attack based on faking the real source of a file. This vulnerability could enable an attacker to misrepresent the origin source of a file available for download in order to trick users into accepting a file download from an untrusted source believing it to be coming from a trusted source. A lot of Peer-to-peer web software are subject to this flaw and don't filter enough dubious files made available by some attackers on their sharing space. This is done in an attempt to have users downloading viruses, worms, backkdoors and so on.
