Go to Glossary List

Description: An exploit is a way to take advantage of a vulnerability to run code on the vulnerable target. A buffer overflow can be exploited to run arbitrary code, but it is not always the case. Depending on the software, you can only get a denial of service. Exploit: A way of misusing or breaking into a system by taking advantage of a weakness in it.
