Description: A 16-bit quantity used as an endpoint in UDP or TCP communications. Server programs usually 'listen' on fixed ports, sometimes called Well-Known Ports. For example, the standard port for an FTP server is 21. Client programs usually choose a system-attributed value. Port numbers assignment is described at http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers.
